The day before the tour, the private tour guide will contact the tourist to offer an informative talk in the lobby of their hotel. The other option is to receive this information via WhatsApp. The guide will explain what to bring and what is necessary for the next day’s adventure.
On the day of the tour, the guide will pick up the tourist and his/her private group at the door of their hotel in the city of Cusco. Pick-up is recommended at 5 a.m. (the tourist can decide the time).
Then, aboard a van or a tourist minivan (depending on the number of visitors), we will take a trip of almost 2 hours to the town of Cusipata. There we will stop to enjoy a buffet breakfast at the La Montana restaurant.
Breakfast is buffet style and made with Andean ingredients. It offers: pancakes, eggs, breads, butter, jam, avocado, yogurt, cereals, fruits, juices, coffee, coca leaves and more. The guide will give you time to use the restrooms and continue with the trip.
Once again aboard the tourist transport, the trip continues for about 2 hours towards the town of Palcoyo, located at an altitude of approximately 4,600 meters above sea level. In Palcoyo, the group will prepare to take the easy walk to the viewpoints of the rainbow mountain.
The hike to Palcoyo, unlike the route to the Mountain of 7 Colors (Vinicunca), does not require renting a horse. The hike is less than 1 kilometer on flat paths. Everyone can complete this route without complications. The route on foot to its viewpoints takes 20 minutes on average. Along the way, visitors can take beautiful photos of llamas, alpacas and local residents. A private guide will always accompany the visitor.
At the various viewpoints of Palcoyo, tourists will appreciate a beautiful landscape of mountain slopes with different shades. During the rainy months, the slopes can sometimes be covered in snow.
